Establishment of TKV

Establishment of the Development Foundation of Turkey (TKV).

1970

Tarsus Poultry Activities

Initiation of rural development and village poultry development activities in Tarsus forest villages.

1975

Lice Earthquake Rehabilitation

Initiation of post-earthquake rehabilitation and rural development efforts in Diyarbakır-Lice with support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and other organizations.

1976

Van-Muradiye Earthquake Efforts

Initiation of post-earthquake rehabilitation and rural development efforts in Van-Muradiye with support from the SDC.

1977

SDC-TKV Cooperation

Establishment of continuity in the cooperation between SDC and TKV.

1978

Training and Support Centers

Opening of two training, extension, and support centers: Ankara - Kazan Beekeeping Center and Diyarbakır Dairy Cattle Center.

1979

Ankara-Çubuk Project

Initiation of the Ankara-Çubuk rural development project.

1982

Animal Husbandry & Rural Development

Dissemination of rural development and animal husbandry development programs to include Kayseri-Uzunyayla. Selection of TKV by the World Bank and Ministry of Agriculture to implement the Rural Poultry Component of the 5th Animal Husbandry Development Project, thereby replicating the model first created in Tarsus to ten other regions.

1983

Establishment of Köy-Tür Companies

Establishment of the first three regional Köy-Tür companies by poultry farmers in Ankara, Kayseri, and Diyarbakır regions.

1985

Largest Poultry Producer in Turkey

Consolidation of regional Köy-Tür companies to become the largest poultry meat producer in Turkey.

1991

Community Forestry & Open Feedlotting

Initiation of "Community Forestry" projects in Erzurum-Uzundere and Sinop-Durağan. Operation of a model Open Feedlotting facility in Çubuk as an example in beef cattle and red meat production.

1995

Cooperation with ILO on Child Labor

Initiation of cooperation between TKV and the International Labour Organization (ILO) on vocational training for working children in rural areas.

1996

Rural Credit & GAP Projects

Expansion of the TKV rural credit program into a multi-regional initiative. Initiation of corn production and large-scale beekeeping by Ziraat Bank and TKV among smallholders in the GAP region. Initiation of cooperation on the multi-purpose community centers (ÇATOM) program between GAP RDA and TKV.

1997

GAP Irrigation Management (IMOM)

Initiation of cooperation between GAP RDA and TKV in the "Management, Operation, and Maintenance of GAP Irrigation Systems" (IMOM) project.

1998

Women Empowerment in Van & Diyarbakır

Initiation of pilot programs in Van and Diyarbakır provinces with European Union support, aimed at raising women's status and income levels.

1999

Gümüşhane-Şiran Livestock Program

Initiation of the animal husbandry development program in Gümüşhane-Şiran district in cooperation with German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and TKV.

2000

Establishment of Destek A.Ş.

Consolidation of three major income-generating activities (beekeeping, animal fattening, and handicrafts) under a joint-stock company named Destek A.Ş.

2001

Eğil & Varto Rural Development Projects

Initiation of village-level development activities in Diyarbakır-Eğil and the Muş-Varto rural development project.

2002

Gümüşhacıköy Rural Development efforts

Initiation of rural development efforts in Amasya-Gümüşhacıköy.

2005

Development Plans & IPARD Participation

Participation in the Ninth Development Plan (2007-2013) Special Expertise Committee, contribution to IPARD preparation, handover of lice handicraft activities to the public sector, and supporting the Koruklu Agricultural Research Project.

2007

Institutional Capacity & Strategic Plan

Participation in the JICA forum, participation in the EU Twinning Project on "Strengthening Institutional Capacity for Effective Implementation of the Rural Development Plan", contribution to the preparation of National Rural Development Plan, and strategic planning with the General Directorate of Forestry.

2010

GAP Cooperation & ÇATOM

Continued cooperation with GAP RDA on "Village Drinking Water", "GAP Irrigation Systems Management (IMOM)" and management of ÇATOM (Multi-Purpose Community Centers).

2011

DİKA & Chetoos Development Project

Provision of Viticulture and Beekeeping producer trainings within DİKA Programs, continuation of cooperation with GAP RDA, and implementation of the GAP Chetoos development project.

2012

Rural Development Initiative & FAO Meeting

Organization of the Rural Development Initiative Meeting and participation in the FAO committee meeting.

2013

Integrated Projects of 2013

Implementation of social development and local beekeeping projects with Enerji-SA, Heinrich Böll Stiftung, Shell Upstream Turkey, and winning the EU IPA Social Inclusion through Sports project.

2014

Beekeeping & Integrated Rural Development

Dissemination of Beekeeping in Eastern Black Sea, beekeeping training protocol with the Ministry of Agriculture, implementation of Social Inclusion through Sports, and preparation of Gölbaşı and Kurtalan Integrated Rural Development Plans.

2015

European Rural Parliament Participation

Preparation of Cizre Integrated Rural Development Plan, participation in the European Rural Parliament representing Turkey, and training needs analysis for GAP Region local government staff.

2016

UNICEF Child & Youth Empowerment

Launch of the UNICEF Syrian and Turkish Children and Youth Empowerment Project in the GAP region, and improving employability of disadvantaged groups.

2017

TANAP Organic Poultry & Beekeeping

Implementation of TANAP-supported Organic Egg Poultry project in Erzurum-Aşkale and Beekeeping project for rural disadvantaged groups in Bayburt and Gümüşhane.

2018

Breeding Queen Bee Ecotype Development

Launch of the Breeding Queen Bee Ecotype Development Project in the DOKAP region.

2019

Biodiversity & Mardin Social Cohesion

Biodiversity baseline study for UNDP-GEF in Ankara, and launching the social cohesion and access to protection and social services project in Mardin.

2020

Mardin Office & IPARD Strategy

Opening of TKV Mardin Office, participation in IPARD Local Development Strategy workshops, and continuation of the DOKAP queen bee project.

2023

Child Protection & Livelihood Projects

Supporting Syrian and Turkish children through early childhood education, improving access to protection, social cohesion, and livelihoods for vulnerable refugees and host communities in Southeast Turkey, and creating a protective environment for children.
