Meryem's story shows that small but behavior-focused changes in caregiving practices can yield powerful gains in early childhood learning. When she first attended early childhood sessions, she was looking for ways to better manage the daily challenges of parenting. But over time, she realized how the relationship she built with Musa shaped his learning, self-confidence, and emotional well-being. Meryem and her son Musa smile while playing with teddy bears. Thanks to the sessions conducted under the guidance of Social and Behavioral Change (SBC), Meryem began to reflect on her own feelings and habits. She learned how important everyday interactions like talking, playing, listening, and responding are for a child's cognitive development, language skills, and curiosity. Over time, screen time gave way to shared play and storytelling. Challenging moments turned into opportunities for bonding and learning. As Musa became a more participatory and expressive child, Meryem realized that the change was happening not only in him but also in herself. By adopting a responsive parenting approach, she created an environment where learning was safe and enjoyable. Everyday moments, playing games, singing songs, and solving simple problems formed the basis of Musa's early learning. Meryem and her son Musa smiling in the park. Gaziantep, 2026 – TKV – Şerf ARSLAN
“Parenting is not just an instinct; it’s a learnable skill. Approach your children; both their lives and your own will change,” says Meryem.

This transformation reflects the aim of the SBC-based early childhood approach. It aims to strengthen the capacity of parents so that children can acquire the necessary skills during critical developmental periods. By providing caregivers with practical tools, it ensures that learning begins at home and that parents are an active part of this process. Families like Meryem create safe environments where children can explore, learn, and develop. Because investing in parents is one of the most effective ways to achieve lifelong learning and well-being.
